Covid19: Enugu needs total lockdown to contain community spreading  ‘coz new index

The Enugu case left the state the same day the government ordered the lockdown, 28th of March, it was supposed to come into effect on the 31st of March.

Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi read the directive himself.

We all saw that.

1.The case came back into the state on the 14th of April. A whole two weeks into the lockdown.

A time that border closure was supposedly tight and security agents including members of the Forest Guard posted at borders and border villages were supposedly alert.
2. Enugu discharged the last of our index cases on the 17th of April.

The states rapid response team had no active case to manage in Enugu since then.

They were informed of a possible #COVID19 case on the 25th of April but it wasn’t until the 27th that samples were taken.
3. From the 14th until the 21st of April when this case reportedly submitted to a healthcare facility, we have one whole week of a possible spread of the virus as nothing was said of self isolation upon entry into the state on the 14th.
4. Active, aggressive tracing has been started as we send this.

Enugu state has to get a lockdown law that tries people for criminal negligence this period.

We also need to formulate a new plan for those that come in as essentials.
5. The rapid response team has been following up on other leads as we understand they are quite a handful, hence the two day delay between when they got the information and when samples were taken but we can confirm they are on top of this now.
6. Border control has to be tightened.

Whatever they let get past them is headed straight for us, that is why they cannot make any mistakes.

They are our first line of defense and must act as such.
7. The case has to tell the state which border let them in, someone has to lose their job by the close of business today except there’s a good reason.

The Governor should visit all borders again, they didn’t seem to get the memo the first time around.
8. The state should increasing sample collection and trace aggressively so we can arrest this now.

Ndi Enugu, please take responsibility, you are all you have.
