FG Will Convert Schools and Hotels to Isolation Centre, If ?- Health Minister
The federal government has stated schools and hotels will be used as isolation centres, in the event of overflow of Covid_19
The Minister of Health, Osagie Ehanire, noted this at some point of the Presidential Task Force media briefing on COVID-19 on Thursday.
As at Thursday evening, Nigeria has a whole of 8,733 confirmed coronavirus cases, with the wide varietygrowing by means of thousands each and every day. Lagos State for instance, has the highest range in the country, with 4,012 patients.
Ehanire expressed optimism that the scenario in Nigeria would no longer “experience horrific scenes of mattress area shortages viewed in some European hospitals.”
According to him, there are over 112 therapy and isolation centres in 35 states and Abuja. However, now not all states have up to at least 300 beds prescribed for isolation and treatment.
“In event of overflow, we can require hotels and school dormitories to be organized for degree 1 (Quarantine) and level two Isolation (of COVID-19 positive with zero or slight symptoms), to free health center beds to be devoted to stage 3, (moderate to extreme cases) and degree 4, (high dependency and intensive care unit).
“I therefore, call on activists and philanthropists to work with nation governments in concerted steps to scale up non-pharmaceutical measures and red meat up infrastructural property for isolation and therapy in their states,” Ehanire said.
