In a stunning turn of events, Barcelona is apparently looking at Liverpool’s Darwin Nunez as a potential replacement for star striker Robert Lewandowski, as both teams prepare to make changes this summer.
With Barcelona facing a significant overhaul of their squad due to La Liga’s slashed salary cap of £174 million, high-paid players like Lewandowski, who earns £27 million per year, are expected to leave, despite his enduring prowess at 36 years old, having scored 24 goals and provided nine assists in 45 appearances this season.
According to The Sun, Barcelona is interested in Nunez since they were close to signing him four years ago while he was at Almeria.
Despite being one of Liverpool’s top earners with wages around £7 million, Nunez remains an attractive and financially feasible option for the Spanish giants.
However, Liverpool may be reluctant to part ways with the Uruguayan, having secured him from Benfica just two years ago in a record-breaking deal worth up to £85 million.
