The Defence Headquarters says the troops of the newly-launched Operation Accord on Friday killed no fewer than 70 armed bandits and cattle rustlers in Kashia Forest in Kaduna State.

The Coordinator, Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen. John Enenche, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday in Abuja.

Enenche stated the success was recorded in a blended floor and air offensive performed by way of troops of Operation Thunder Strike, underneath Operation Accord, in conjunction with troops of 312 Artillery Regiment and nearby Vigilantes in the area.

He stated the offensive operation was sequel to a credible records on the bandits’ moves inside the area.

According to him, troops pursued the bandits via Gidan Maikeri village in Chikun Local Government Area into the forest.

“Their region was once recognized and therefore engaged with the aid of Nigerian Air Force helicopter gunships.
