Nigerian singer, Chinonso and Pianist, Chimelu Arrested for Robbery in Lagos
A musician and a pianist who are each robberysuspects have been arrested through the Lagos Police Command. The suspects confessed that they had beencompelled into robbery by way of the need to survive the COVID – 19 lockdown hunger.
The suspects: Chinonso Michael, 25, an Afro hip-hop singer and Chimelu Victory, 22 years, a pianist, have been arrested last week Wednesday in company of 5 different suspects at their house at 4, Modupe Young Thomas Estate, Ajah.
The duo had on 10th April, 2020, ordered pay on delivery, an iPhone 11 Pro Max valued at N450,000 through an online platform from their hideout in Ajah.
On receipt of the consignment from a delivery man, Chimelu generated a pretend alert and later, with the connivance of Chinonso, escaped from the apartmentafter they had tied down the despatch rider with a bottle of beer.
The suspects then sold the smartphone to a purchaser in Ogba, Ikeja, for a sum of N350,000 transferred into Chinoso’s financial institutionaccount.
The suspects – who jumped off from the first floor to the floor bare – on sighting the police, confessed that was once the third time they sold iPhone 11 Pro Max during the COVID – 19 lockdown.
In their confessions, Chinonso and Chimelo, who are normal performers in some Lagos night clubs, attributed their movements to the lockdown, stressing that they had nothing to eat for almost two weeks.
“We have been already owing all the store owners in the neighbourhood. Nobody was once ready to supply us credit score anymore. We had to machine a ability to survive the lockdown”, they stated.
