Alcohol not allowed in stadiums during the FIFA World Cup games in Qatar

The host country of 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar has banned drinking of alcoholic beverages inside stadiums during the FIFA World Cup games.

Though, the consumption of Alcohol is not a crime in Qatar, it is only illegal to drink or be drunk in public as per the country’s laws. The only exempt areas are certain hotels, restaurants, and clubs that cater to foreign visitors, especially Westerners.

There will be designated areas around the main FIFA fan zone in the Al Bidda park in Doha, the Qatari capital, where fans will be permitted to buy beer at certain times

Visitors are not allowed to bring alcohol into the country, nor are they permitted to shop at the nation’s lone liquor store located on the outskirts of Doha. They are only allowed to purchase alcohol at a handful of licensed hotels and clubs.

FIFA said Saturday that Budweiser with alcohol will be sold “within the stadium perimeter prior to kickoff and after the final whistle.”

“Inside the stadium bowl ticket holders will have access to non-alcoholic Budweiser Zero,” soccer’s world body said. “At the FIFA Fan Festival, Budweiser will be available to purchase from 6.30 p.m.”
