A wild jubilation erupted at St. Peters Catholic church, Odoru, Nsukka as a top Philanthropist (name withheld), who is also a resident of the village, dolled out over a million naira to widows of St Peters Catholic Church in Nsukka as palliative measure for the ravaging pandemic – Corona virus lockdown.
The cash gift which was given to the vulnerable widows of Nsukka as part of his intervention to provide support to those affected by COVID-19 pandemic lockdown was carefully rapped in brown envelopes, which contained ten thousand naira each, with names of the recipient-widows on each envelope.
Distributing the envelopes, the parish priest of St peters Catholic church, Odoru, Rev. Fr. Simeon Nnamdi Ugwueze who pleaded that the philanthropist begged that his name should not be mentioned as what mattered most to him was the welfare of the widows, prayed for Gods blessings and more grace for the donor.
”This is an uncommon generosity, especially towards the most vulnerable among us in Enugu state. This is more so because the donors has pleaded for anonymity;” The parish priest remarked.
One of the Recipients, Mrs Monica told news men that the Philanthropist who is a native of Iheaka Nsukka but resides at Odoru, has been a God-sent in the area as he single-handedly facilitated the electrification of the area, ensured maintenance of roads leading to the Village during festive times and other interventions.
