FG Plans Free Transportation to Alleviate Effect Of Subsidy Removal
The Nigeria government has brought out modalities for the disbursement of 2, 000 buses aimed at cushioning the effects of subsidy removal, Matters Arising learned this modification has been set up by the Federal Government.
According to the report made available to Matters Arising, disclosed on Monday by the Minister of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, Dr George Akume, while delivering his speech at the Inter-Ministerial Stakeholders meeting on Poverty Alleviation.
It was gathered that, the initiative was a part of programme to lift 100 million Nigerians out of poverty, while adding that the initiative was in collaboration between his ministry, agriculture, and other government agencies.
He said the disbursement of the buses would be through cooperative societies of Nigeria, while recalling that it had been promised by President Muhammadu Buhari in his 2019 democracy speech, that he would lift 100m Nigerians out of poverty through numerous governments initiatives.
