The Department of State Services (DSS) has flown veteran actor, Chiwetalu Agu, to Abuja as part of investigations for promoting Biafra and allegedly inciting members of the public.
The relative, who wished to remain anonymous because of the sensitivity of the case, said Agu was first moved from Anambra to Enugu and then to Abuja.
He said attempts to see him in Abuja were rebuffed by the DSS, a report by The Eagle Online also indicates.
The relative said: “We spent two days trying to ascertain his whereabouts. We were later informed that he was moved to Enugu and then Abuja.
“We heard that the idea is to move him away from the South-East. We have made efforts to see him, but the DSS has not granted us access. Even the lawyers have not been allowed to reach him.”
Matters Arising learnt that, Actor Chiwetalu Agu Regains Freedom
Veteran actor, Chiwetalu Agu has been released by the Department of State Services in Abuja.
The Actors Guild of Nigeria secured the release of the actor, who was arrested in Onitsha over ‘Biafran’ outfit.
According to Reno Omokri, he wrote “I am ever grateful to Chief Mike Ozekhome for being instrumental to the release of Chiwetalu Agu after his unjust and illegal arrest by a repressive regime that celebrates Sheikh Gumi for promoting terrorist bandits and denigrates Agu for expressing his freedom of thought via his dressing.
I hope one or two social media based skit artists can see that our collective freedom is bigger than the small change they make from Instagram. Stop thinking of what Instagram and social media can do for you.
Instead think of what you can use Instagram and social media to do for Nigeria. We should be more committed to Nigeria’s freedom than to what we will eat. – Reno Omokri wrote
