Kingship crisis continue in Oruku Njaba Community, Nkanu East, Enugu State ~ Matters Arising

Matters Arising gathered that, the people of Oruku Njaba Community, are currently battling over the kingship of their community.

According to one Mr T Inyaba, an indigene of the community, when speaking to our correspondent, stated that the fight has been going on since last year ( 2020 ) claiming many lives and properties.

As the kingship’s aspirant ( Mr Emmanuel Mba ) was shot dead in their community’s hall, while addressing their people on the 26th of December 2020, and so many people were injured at the spot, cars were also burnt to ashes.

The death of Mr Emmanuel Mba, raised so many issues amongst the villages and kindreds in Oruku, especially by creating chances for some armed gangs been sponsored by few prominent men in the community, as they goes by destroying peoples houses, shops, goods and livestocks.

The lives of the people in Oruku community, remains in danger, as they keep sleepless nights, wondering from one bush to the other every night, in order to stay away from those blood sucking gangs.

On our visit to the community, we met empty villages, because some villagers ran away to the nearest towns and communities for safety, while some people sent their family out, and stayed back to witness their next actions in the village.

The Nigeria police station in Oruku, was abandoned, by the police officers, living their new patrolling hilux van, as the Enugwu state’s government enjoy’s making profits from communal crises.
