Labour Party fume as Anambra Government destroys Peter Obi campaign billboards
The Signage and Advertisement Agency of the Anambra State government has reportedly taken down campaign billboards of Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party.

According to reports, the billboard located at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Temporary Site Flyover was removed on January 14, 2023. The billboard of Chief Victor Umeh, the LP party’s candidate for the Anambra Central Senatorial District was also taken down.

The government had previously instructed candidates to obtain campaign permits and pay campaign fees before mounting their adverts on billboards in August 2022.

The Managing Director of ANSAA, Tony Ujubuonu, stated that the removal of the billboards was not politically motivated and that the affected candidates had not followed the proper procedures.

The state chairman of the Labour Party, Ugochukwu Emmanuel, however, claimed that the LP’s application for streetlight pole adverts was rejected and that other candidates were allowed to use the poles for their campaigns.
