NCoS debunk Rumor of Osinachi’s husband and Wadume escaping from Kuje Prison

The Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS) has dismissed reports that Peter Nwachukwu, husband of the late gospel singer, Osinachi, is among the escapees of the Kuje prison.

The NCoS also confirmed that the suspected kidnap kingpin, Hamisu Bala (a.k.a. Wadume), is still in the custody.

The service said that it’s not true  that both men escaped during the July 5 jailbreak at Medium Security Custodial Centre, Abuja.

Public Relations Officer, FCT Command, Chukwuedo Humphrey spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday as thus:

“The story is false, reckless and mischievous. They are still in custody. Efforts are ongoing to recapture all fleeing inmates.

“The Controller-General, NCoS, Haliru Nababa, is determined to continue to upscale inmates’ welfare and safety”, Humphrey added.

If we can remember that on Tuesday, July 5, gunmen suspected to be Boko Haram terrorists attacked the prison with explosives and released 879 inmates including 64 hardened Boko Haram criminals.

However, over 500 inmates have now been recaptured but some inmates are still at the large as at the time of filing this report.
