Old Naira Note will be useless from January 31 – CBN

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has reminded citizens that the deadline for the return of old series of ₦200, ₦500, and ₦1000 naira notes is fast approaching. The deadline for the return of these notes is January 31, 2023.

The CBN has urged the public to take advantage of the remaining time to exchange their old notes for new ones at any of the CBN’s branches nationwide.

This move is part of the CBN’s efforts to phase out old series of naira notes and replace them with new, more secure notes.

The CBN has emphasized that after January 31, 2023, old series of ₦200, ₦500, and ₦1000 naira notes will no longer be accepted as legal tender. Therefore, it is important for individuals and businesses to exchange their old notes before the deadline to avoid any inconvenience.

The CBN has also urged the public to take note of the security features of the new notes to ensure they are authentic.

The bank has assured that all efforts are being made to make the process of exchanging old notes for new ones as smooth as possible.
