The Alaafin in Council (Oyomesi),
Thru: HRH The Basorun of Oyo Kingdom,
Your Royal Highnesses,
WE CONDOLE WITH YOU ON THIS MONUMENTAL LOSS!
On behalf of the National Coordinating Council (NCC), the leadership, and the entire cadre of this organisation, I extend our sincere and unquantifiable feeling of empathy and compassion with the government of Oyo State, Oyo traditional chiefs, the immediate and extended family of Oba Adeyemi II and the peoples of Oyo Alaafin and all the towns and communities under the suzerainty of the Oyo Empire, and by effect, the Alaafin of Oyo, on the transition to glory of His Majesty, Iku Baba Yeye, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi II, the custodian-in-chief of the culture and tradition of our Yoruba people.
This is a loss so painful, unexpected and that cannot be quantified that we join the rest of the world to pray to Eledumare to grant his family and subjects the fortitude to bear this monumental loss.
He was a monarch who served as a yardstick for appraising other royalty; and none could measure up to his high standards.
We cannot but remember his steadfast commitment to upholding and promoting the culture and traditions of our forefathers, particularly in these days of the bastardisation of the traditional chieftancy institutionand its attendant processes.
Finally, it is our fervent hope and prayers that the people of Oyo would find a worthy replacement to fill the shoes of this departed patriot.
Yours in service,
AROGUNDADE Rasak (Aare)
