The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has taken a firm stance on anti-party activities within its ranks by expelling former Enugu State Governor Chimaroke Nnamani, along with six other individuals, from the party.
The announcement of their expulsion was made by the national publicity Secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, in a statement released on Friday, February 10, 2023.
Senator Nnamani, who was also the PDP candidate for the Enugu East Senatorial Zone in the 2023 election, was expelled for violating the Constitution of the PDP (as amended in 2017) through anti-party activities and other serious offenses.
The National Working Committee (NWC) of the PDP approved their expulsion at its 566th meeting, based on the recommendation of the National Disciplinary Committee and in accordance with Sections 58 and 59 (1)(g) of the PDP Constitution.
The other individuals who were expelled from the party are Hon. Chris Ogbu of Imo State, Ajijola Lateef Oladimeji of Ekiti Central, Olayinka James Olalere of Ekiti Central II, Fayose Oluwajomiloju John of Ekiti Central I, Akerele Oluyinka of Ekiti North I, and Emiola Adenike Jennifer of Ekiti South II. All of the expulsions are effective as of Friday, February 10, 2023.
The PDP, in its statement, stressed the importance of unity among its members and urged them to remain focused on the mission of the party to rescue, rebuild, and redirect the country from its current state of misrule.
The PDP’s decision to expel these individuals serves as a clear message that the party will not tolerate any form of anti-party activities or violations of its constitution.
The PDP’s action of expelling Senator Chimaroke Nnamani and six others is a demonstration of its commitment to maintaining discipline and order within its ranks. The party’s stance on anti-party activities will hopefully serve as a deterrent for other members, encouraging them to uphold the principles and values of the PDP.
