Former Governor of Anambra State and 2023 presidential election candidate of Labour Party, Peter Obi, has fulfilled his promise to assist Ms Gimba Sophia Emmanuel, a lady who couldn’t afford an oven to start her baking and confectionery business. Peter Obi, a well-known philanthropist, made the pledge to support Ms Emmanuel after she shared her story on social media.
Ms Emmanuel’s story went viral after she posted on Twitter about her dream of starting a baking and confectionery business but couldn’t afford an oven, which is a crucial piece of equipment for her business. Many Nigerians were touched by her story and took to social media to express their support and offer help.
Peter Obi, who was moved by Ms Emmanuel’s determination to start her own business, pledged to support her by providing the necessary funds to acquire an oven. And true to his words, he fulfilled his promise by providing N75,000, which Ms Emmanuel used to acquire a Nigerian-made oven.
The former governor shared the news of his gesture on his verified Twitter page, expressing his delight in helping a young Nigerian entrepreneur start her business. He also commended Ms Emmanuel for her decision to purchase a Nigerian-made oven, which supports the “production to consumption” mantra.
Ms Emmanuel expressed her gratitude to Peter Obi and everyone who supported her through social media. She noted that the support she received had given her the motivation to pursue her dream and promised to put the oven to good use in her baking and confectionery business.
