Peter Obi’s political godfather, Obasajo write open letter to Buhari seek election cancellation

Former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo has called on current President Muhammadu Buhari to cancel elections that it did not meet the standards of credibility and transparency during the just-concluded presidential election.

In an open letter, Obasanjo, who is a political godfather to Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, urged the President to ensure that only transparent and credible elections are conducted in Nigeria.

Obasanjo expressed concern over the disruption of elections in some areas, and urged the President to bring back such elections on Saturday, March 4th, 2023. He also called for the officials responsible for the BVAS and server to be changed, to ensure that there is no manipulation of election results.

The former President’s letter highlights the importance of ensuring that elections in Nigeria are conducted transparently and credibly. It is crucial for the country’s democracy to thrive and for the will of the people to be reflected in election results.

Obasanjo’s call for the cancellation of non-credible elections and the re-conduct of disrupted elections, if implemented, could go a long way in restoring public confidence in the electoral process in Nigeria.

It would also ensure that the voices of Nigerians are heard and that they can choose their leaders through a free and fair electoral process.
