Seven (7) Do’s and Don’ts during Ramadan fasting

Ramadan is a holy month in the Islamic calendar, during which Muslims fast from dawn to sunset. It is a time for spiritual reflection, self-discipline, and charitable acts.

If you plan to fast during Ramadan, here are some do’s and don’ts to keep in mind:

DO’s:

1. Intend to fast with sincerity and purity of heart.

2.  Wake up early for suhoor (pre-dawn meal) to prepare your body for the long day ahead.

3. Consume a balanced diet during suhoor and iftar (breaking the fast) to ensure that you have enough energy for the day.

4. Drink plenty of water during non-fasting hours to prevent dehydration.

5. Use the time during the day to engage in spiritual practices, such as reading the Quran and making dua.

6. Be patient and kind to others, as Ramadan is a time for self-reflection and self-improvement.

7. Give generously to charity and help those in need.

DON’Ts:

1. Do not eat, drink, or smoke during fasting hours.

2. Avoid engaging in sinful behavior during Ramadan, such as lying, backbiting, and gossiping.

3. Do not waste time during the day, instead use it for self-reflection and spiritual growth.

4. Avoid overeating during iftar, as it can lead to digestive problems.

5. Do not neglect your health during Ramadan. If you have a medical condition that requires you to take medication or break your fast, consult your doctor.

6. Avoid engaging in sexual activity during the day while fasting.

7. Do not get angry or lose your temper, as it goes against the spirit of Ramadan.
