The Nigerian 2023 presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, has announced Senator Kashim Shettima as his presidential running mate. The chosen running mate is reported to be a former governor of Borno state and also a Muslim.
He announced this while addressing journalists in Katsina State on Sunday, according to a
presidential aide, Buhari Sallau.
This is coming hours after Tinubu met with the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), alongside Katsina State Governor, Aminu Masari.
Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State had on Saturday revealed that Tinubu had settled for a Muslim-Muslim ticket.
We could recall that Tinubu earlier chose Ibrahim Kabiru Masari, as placeholder for the vice-presidential slot.
Addressing journalists on Sunday, Tinubu said a capable running mate would replace Ibrahim Masari.
When asked further on the substantive running mate, Tinubu said, “Kashim Shettima, I have not discussed with him but I have disclosed it to you.”
