Kaduna State High Court has freed the embattled leader of the proscribed Islamic Movement in Nigeria, Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky and his wife.
In a ruling that lasted over eight hours, the presiding judge, Justice Gideon Kurada upheld the no case submission filed by Sheikh Ibraheem El-Zakzaky and his wife.
Matters Arising Learnt that Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky has been acquitted.
The court declared that the prosecutor couldn’t prove the case against him. Since 2015, after the unfortunate massacre of the members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, which he leads, he had been standing trial and serially denied bails granted by the court.
El-Zakzaky was charged, along with his wife, on eight counts, among which were alleged culpable homicide, unlawful assembly, disruption of public peace, to which he pleaded not guilty.
Over the years El-Zakzaky and his family have faced in this long walk to freedom having his children murdered without justice, his followers massacred and the survivors repressed and persistently harassed, and yet they were denied even the mere constitutional right to protest the glaring denials of justice by the government.
But it seem he lives in a society that treats the Shiites, of which he’s the most prominent leader, as sub-humans who don’t deserve to live.
Nigeria government were alleged of robbed the corpses of massacred Shiites, and gloated over a crackdown
